COMPANY HISTORY - Perhaps one of the most recognized names in radio is Crosley.  Powell Crosely was born in
Cincinatti in 1886. The Crosley Manufacturing Company was started in 1921 with the goal of manufacturing  low cost
quality radios. Crosley aquired or combined forces with other companies in order to gain access to manufacturing processes
and patents. In 1924 Crosley aquired a large interest in DeForest Radio Corp. Lmd. of Canada. 1928 was Crosley's best
year and the company emulated Atwater Kent in manufacturing metal cabinet single dial radios featuring similar performance
and price. The sales were very high and like Kent, Crosley invested in huge plants to supply the ever growing demand.
In 1929 sales went down slightly but profits went down by two thirds. In 1930 Crosley registered his first loss. Philco had
beat the company at thier own game of producing low cost radios. The company survived the depression and was sold to
Avco in 1945. Crosley radio and appliances were discontinued in 1956.

MODEL  11-119U -  This plastic radio was manufactured in 1951. The Bunis 4th Edition Collector's guide values this radio
at $90.00 to $110.00. This blue radio certainly is a nice variation from typical brown bakelite radios of the period..
